With only a few more weeks until it’s Christmas in Devon, The English Riviera is gearing up to celebrate the festive season in style this year.
There is so much on offer from feasting on festive fayre to pantomime shows. There’s a fun-filled programme of events for visitors and locals alike. Santa Express – Paignton Queens Park Station, Torbay Road, Paignton
Jump aboard this Christmas train ride to help Aladdin search for the Genie of the Lamp with the assistance of Father Christmas and his helpers. The train departs Paignton Queens Park Station on a journey to Kingswear and return. Santa will present gifts to the children, while the adults can partake of mulled wine and mince pies.
Festive trains run on the following dates, 10th, 11th, 17th, 18th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd & 24th December 2016. Pre-booking is essential to guarantee your place on board.
Santa’s Grotto at House of Marbles, Pottery Road, Bovey Tracey
This is a must for a visit with small children. Open every weekend from 19th November, and every day during the week leading up to Christmas Day. No booking necessary, just turn up on your chosen day. Lots of fun with quizzes and prizes, with a balloon, badge and a gift for your child included in the ticket cost. Creative Christmas by the Sea – Torquay various location on Saturdays from 26th November
Discover choirs, workshops and creative installations around Torquay town. There are events on each of the Saturdays leading up to Christmas week –featuring lantern and craft workshops, a story trail and a thrilling choir competition.
Late night shopping and Christmas Market in Torquay
An amazing annual Christmas Market will be introduced in Fleet Street on 26thand 27th November. There will be over 40 stalls with many festive items and gift to buy and sample. Stores will begin their late night shopping opening hours on Thursday evenings, from 1st to 22nd December.
Victorian Christmas at Bygones – Fore Street, St Marychurch, Torquay
This festive extravaganza transports you back to the 1897 era. Discover the 12 feet tall Christmas tree and join in the search to find modern artefacts hidden around the Bygones museum. Visit Santa’s workshop where children will receive a traditional gift.
